K-12 School Success Initiative
K-12 School Success Initiative is based on connecting networks of support for students who meet the statistical profile of being at-risk of dropping out of school. Through public and private leadership in cooperation with schools, CIS Arizona takes a community development approach to supporting education by unifying the full resources of a community around children and families, using schools as a support system base. The plan is a multi-faceted approach to address the academic needs of the students. A Site Coordinator is placed at a school to address the social service needs of the children and families. CIS Arizona staff work closely with school staff, parents, community members to identify the specific needs that frequently become a barrier to a child's learning. Using a resource case management model, a Campus Plan is developed to connect resources tailored to each school site. Programming at each campus includes supportive guidance, crisis intervention, parental involvement activities, tutoring, community engagement initiatives, mentoring and other activities designed to productively engage students while addressing essential needs on the campus and in the community.
